STATUE
OF KING CHARLES II
Erected
in 1685 by James Smith, this statue of King Charles II dressed
as a Roman Emperor on horseback is the oldest lead cast statue
in Britian.
At
the time there was plans to erect a statue of Oliver Cromwell
here, but these were quickly abandoned after the Restoration.

The
