STATUE OF KING CHARLES II

Erected in 1685 by James Smith, this statue of King Charles II dressed as a Roman Emperor on horseback is the oldest lead cast statue in Britian.

At the time there was plans to erect a statue of Oliver Cromwell here, but these were quickly abandoned after the Restoration.
